Ive been thinkin about gettin a new aftermarket/performance ignition coil and I was wondering what kind/brands are the best but still reasonably priced. Any and all feedback would be cool, thanks guys !

I've heard good things About the NGK , But can not say for positive as I have not personally Owned one , Few Friends had them years ago but they all got rid of there blaster's

I didn't even know they made ignition coils, NGK is obviously a well known name with great products so I'm sure their ignition coils would work good too. I'm assuming they'll cost a little less then some of the other names which is always a plus ! I'll definately be lookin into one from NGK, thanks for the suggestion.

i'd agree the nology is probably the best system available, alot of the draggers are running them.
you'll prolly need the nology hot wire also to get the full effect, but they are pricey

i've had the "AMR monster coil" before, not sure it provided any gains, but is slightly physically larger, leading one to believe the windings are larger to produce more voltage ?

I've Also heard good things about the Nology hot wire , Could not Remember the name Until You said hot wire haha

i'm running a "hot wire" right now, on a stock coil, not sure it's doing anything but lookin pretty ???
again, i did too many mods all at once

I agree with you guys, from what I've read and heard nology is definately the way to go. I couldn't remember the name either haha. I'll be searchin ebay for brands and prices, if the price is right I'd love to snatch a nology ignition coil up for my blaster, and possibly the hotwire at a later date. Thanks for all the fast responses and input guys, its def appreciated !

Haha well if nothin else at least its lookin pretty and complimentin that pretty blaster you got ! Id imagine it would be hard to feel the difference in smaller mods with all the work you already have done to that beast.

NGK don't make coils for our blaster, plug caps but not coils. There are a few i know, Nology, which I run, Best one I have had. My quad starts first kick everytime, (as long as i have a good stator in there Heeehee). It takes a little ingenuity to mount but is suppose to give more of a complete burn also.

Next is Ricks Motorsport coil, I also have this and have had no issues with it., this coil will mount in the stock location. This i like too as you can change out the wire if it fails as the wire screws into the coil!

AMR monster as Joe said- another coil that mounts in stock location.

My honest opinion, anything but stock is good! It's all in your budget! If your dragging or racing you want every 10th of a second you can get, if your trail riding, you want your quad to start first kick or two everytime. JMO!

Nology system is about $130 +shipping for coil and wire (if you can find them) and I consider it top of the line.

Amr monster is about $75 shipped

Ricksmotorsports is $35 +shipping

Thanks for clearing up my Mistake Slick , Seems Like the Ricks Is Very Well Priced

I run the stock one, my quad starts first kick every time, unless something else is wrong with it lol

Hey guys, searching threads for knowledge. My sons blaster has a bad secondary coil, it tests out of range and makes it hard to start. It does run if I kick it hard enough. I am thinking I want to buy a ricks hot shot coil but can't find a listing for a 91. Seems like all I can find is 98+. I looked up oem parts and they have different numbers, not sure what the difference is? Anyone have a part number or know if the 98+ coils will work? I want a good coil but don't need to spend for a nology. Thanks

Ahh,, To many "R's" out there anymore. Rickys, Ricks, Rick, Ricksters, Renaldos, Rickaronies etc.. . I know there have been quite a few bad issues with one or two of them lately.. Sorry I can help more, but I am sure a few more members will chime in on what brand NOt to get..

all years blaster coils will interchange, despite differing #'s, they are all the same.
some of the ricks/ricky stator/ricks motorsports stators have recurring problems,
I've never heard of any bad coils, you should be fine with the hot shot coil.
I've run a ricks hot shot cdi, a moster coil and currently a nology with no problems

Did you ohm the coil seperate from the cap? Could be bad plug cap, or even bad connection between the two.

Yes

I did ohm it separately, removed it from the quad and removed the cap. I've had a few caps go bad. Thanks for the idea. I appreciate the replies everyone, that's why I came here. Looks like I'm going to order a hot shot coil today.
