whats everyone think about the kink thats in the cfm to clear the shock? i made my intake so its damn near a straight 2"ID shot from filter to carb, is that better, worse or the same as a CFM?
The kink in that tube has always bothered me actually. It seems like it wouldn't be that hard to make a nice mandrel bent tube with smooth curves. Duncan Racing has a modded 250R airbox kit that they sell, because the stock blaster airbox and tube are so restrictive. I don't like the price, but it looks like it would be easy enough to DIY. The nice thing is it still uses a rubber tube that snakes smoothly around the shock. Yamaha ATV Yamaha Blaster Parts and Accessories Buyers Guide

i should get a pic of mine.. what i did was i cut the stock rubber boot off like 6" from the airbox then put 2" id tubing inside all the way back to the filter then clamped and sealed the rubber around it. cost me like $5 tops lol
Sounds similar to mine. I've wondered about the turbulence created by that tube in the middle of the opening tho. But, I think the dome style filter and 90 turn to get into the tube are big issues too. Plus if you look at the 250R tube you will see it is quite large (3"?) until it smoothly necks down for the carb connection. Makes me wish for a flowbench.
love my cfm box i run it in the summer when it rains alot here. not much of a decrease in power going from a pod to the cfm, pulls really hard with both. the box gives it a real nice deeper tone tho rather than the high pitched sound of a clamp on uni.
here ya go... dirty as hell but you get the idea lol
the last pic is looking in from the carb side all the way to the airfilter area. a 45 degree fitting was to extreme of a bend i belive i ended up using a 22.5 degree fitting and a small rubber connector i cut to get the bend perfect. NOTE: my plastics are about 4.5" further back than most so if it looks unusually long (thats what she said hahaha) thats whats up
