I want to advance the timing on my blaster but im not sure by how much. I do a lot of trail riding so i am trying to get more bottom end power. I do still want to run on pump gas though if that makes a difference. I dont want to take away a lot of top end power because i heard advancing timing can do that is that true? Also i already have a 240BBK and an aftermarket pipe. will i need to change jetting if i advance the timing?

+3 or +4 would be good for your motor, jetting changes shouldnt be needed but check to make sure.. always check.. lol I:I

as paulieB stated in another one of these timing advance threads..................
timing isnt for everyone, his bike does not like it.
try the DIY timing advance" and see if you do, listen closely for detonation/pinging and just turn it back if you don't like it
i used a hot shot cdi once, which advances the timing according to rpm's, not just one set advance for all, my bike did not like it, it came off after 2 rides and found a new owner on CL.

Hi,

How does a person know if it is +3 deg or +4 deg? how do you measure it, I made markings for the stock setting but how from there?

Tx

My last Wiseco with +4 timing.... went like crackers but some serious hill climbing, sandy river beds and +-40 degree celcius temps did this...

pinging started and i nursed it but there was no saving it. 1km from the end of the enduro and it let go

timing is a dangerous way to gain power, it works and gives bottom end i really enjoyed but its touch and go. rather look at other methods of producing that power such as a bigger carb, better reeds, porting, redesigned head etc.

if you want to try it try 2 or 3 degrees first
