advanced timeing and high compression.

Kgibson, what do you mean by index your plug can you elaborate? And do you have any idea what the cooler plug would be? I know the stock plug is a br8es.

when i had my head milled for my 3mil stroker by ken he told me to run a different plug than stock bc of the timing difference. can't remember the nuber off the top of my head but it was a cooler plug

Replace the 8 with a 9 and that's cooler. Raise the plug with a spacer. If they milled .030 you use a .030 spacer you can then advance your timing if you choose and you'll no exactly how many degrees it's advanced.

excellent info on a little known subject gibby, that deserves some greens !!!!!

Deffinatly some green comeing your way gibson, awsome info. Now if i put a .030 spacer on the plug, then advance the timeing will it pump out even more horses ?

You have to keep the plug piston and combustion chamber all in relation to each other. No more hp just a means to a ends for safety.

Also be aware jetting is gonna be more crucial to get it spot on as the 9's are gonna foul allot easier than the 8's

Really hmm well thats fine i enjoy that kinda stuff for some odd reason,I like working on my bikes as much as rideing them.Is the cooler plug going to cause more carbon build up ?

If you dont keep it in the efficiency range yeah its gonna tend to foul plugs and pass unburnt fuel threw. But if you keep the plug hot and ride it, it will be fine. Excess idle will do the fouling not riding. Low rpm cruising will kill the plug to. You need to just pay more attention to the specific areas with cooler plugs.

Wot/Cruise 1/4 1/2 3/4 etc. Plug chops are great, reading the basering on the plug is a good mid range way to tell as well. Of course egt and wb02 gauges on a dyno are youre best bet. Understandable though that not everyone has these tools.

Believe it or not i run a 6 in my motor and have no issues. Of course mine is tuned on a dyno and with egt and wbo2 gauges on the bike.

I don't even know what a egt or wb02 gauge is.And thats no problems i'l be rideing the blasty on the pipe constantly, thats just how i ride any how.

i would cut the head, not mill it. with cutting you can get a better squish and squish band, meaning more power and better fuel burn. this will give more power than timing.

Ok soo i can't find any info on this anywhere.I was wondering if it would be safe to advance the timeing with the timeing mod that is on the site, and run my milled cylinder head it's -.030 ( still pump gas safe ) .I am going for a sleeper, soo i have stock exhaust, port and polish, milled head, boared stock carb ,air lid removed with uni air filter, polished piston crown, jetted, and polished combustion chamber.I figured i'd list the mods just to give you an idea.Any help at all would be appreciated , i just want to make it faster but i don't want to hurt performance, or blow it up.

You could just buy a used aftermarket exhaust such as a toomey exhaust(or whatever) with a small silencer....just find one cheap that has scratched chrome or just has a lot of cosmetic wear. Paint the pipe matte black like the stock pipe, then take the OEM silencer....open it up, remove the baffle and center....insert the after market silencer inside the larger OEM silencer and put the back end plate back on the OEM silencer.......looks almost like stock, but it's not. :D

Yea, I'd agree with that. I want to run pump gas, so I am only running a .30 milled head and no timing advance. If I wanted more compression, I'd just mill the head more but that's just me. I get kind of finicky with messing with timing in congruence with milled heads unless it's something I feel good about doing and makes sense. Banshee owners seem to be pretty adamant about doing anything and everything on their forums and will mill the heads pretty excessively, then run +4 advancements on top of that. I think it's more of a matter of adding to their mod list....I know Shee owners get pretty obsessed with that. :D

yeah a timing advanced wont hurt anything... just do the 4 degree advance and you will be fine... i know ur going for a sleeper look and all but a good exhaust will really turn that thing on.

fmf makes an unfinished fatty you might have to find one but they look relatively stock, at least from a distance...;)
