Well I got home today and had my head gasket and reed gasket waiting for me. Decided to go ahead and pull the head and get that one done. Got the head off and checked the gasket. It really didn't look bad. No burnt spots or breaks that I could see. I am thinking that maybe the smoke I saw puffing out may have just be the head not being torqued well. Anyway I decided to clean the top of the piston off while it was open and found that not only is it on it's first bore but it is also a Wiseco Pro Lite. Nice. Finally some good news. Checked the bore visually and it looks good to. Threw the new gasket on and the head. Retorqued and fired it up. Sounds good and no smoke seeking out. Gonna pull the carb tomorrow and clean it, check the jet size, and install the Boyesen Dual Stage Carbon Reeds that have been sitting on the bench for about 5 months. lol

sounds good, do an airleak test before running it to check the reedcage gaskets. they leak like a mofo sometimes, i had to put some gasket sealer stuff on mine.

Yeah I was actually planning to use some sealer on the reed gasket anyway just to prevent having to do it later. Definitely going to retorque the head nuts too. Don't want laziness to waste a good piston.

glad to hear about the first bore I:I and your right its very easy to pull the pipe, plastics and tank off real quick to re-torque those
