A-Arm Problem

I was taking a part my quad and found a problem. When i got to the a-arms everything was good until I got to the left lower A-arm. The problem is it wont come off. I tried banging it, pulling, pretty much everything you could think of. I was wondering is there some secret way to get these A-Arms off, or any tips .

do not pound on the threads! I did that because I was so frustrated with them not coming off. New a-arms are not fun to buy, even though they are not expensive.

support the spindle on a block of wood,
put the nut on so the threads are 1/2 thread below it, and crack that som-na-biotch hard with a medium sized hammer, might ruin the nut, but far easier to replace than an a-arm from damaged ball joint threads

watch it with the heat, you'll melt the plastic liner inside the ball, and possibly the rubber boot

Were trying to get it off of the spindle just to let everyone know if you don't know already tinyblaster is my step son.

crack the spindle perpendicular to the ball joint a few times. then do what awk said, I would be really weary of heat if you're wanting to reuse/sell the arm you are removing

just rethinking my experience with this same situation, and i did ruin the flanges of the castle nut
possibly put it back on upside down, again with the threads of the ball joint slightly below the top of the nut

There is a tool thats called a pickle fork thats made for seperating ball joints and tierod's from spindles. They make different sized openings for them so you can get one that'll fit the balljoint. I've used it numerous times with great results. Here's an example of one.

I knicked one edge of the boot once. It didn't tear through the boot, just a little mark on it. But I don't put the pickle fork in and then hit the end of the pickle fork. I put the edge of the pickle fork under the spindle and hit down on the handle to force the pickle fork up into the spindle
