My son just purchased a 96 yamaha Blaster for $500. The guy told him that it needed a head gasket.He said it would start up and then just shut down and that he thought the gasket got folded over when it was rebuilt.He showed us how it would just shut down. I don't know anything about them, but my son wanted it so bad and he was going to get a friend of his to fix it for him.Does anyone know if this sounds like the head gasket?When we got the Blaster home we could not even get it to start. Any help Appreciated! Thanks!

could be alot of things... first thing check the compression, if you dont have a gauge is the kicker stiff at all when you push it with your hand? next check the reeds, clean the carb, new plug fresh gas, is the oil injection removed? what about the tors and parking brake? i dont think it would be a head gasket but hey stanger things have happened.
