what would cause me to have to retard the stator 90 deg to go fwd on a 1989 blasty ?

just a chuckle..
but the timing system on a blaster is fixed unless youve modded your stator plate to advance the timing..
something tells me you have a sheared flywheel woodruff key OR if its even possible that if you have to replace your stator parts recently that you put an ignition coil where the lighting coil is suppose to be...BUT i dont even think that possible...
so most likely a sheared flywheel key..
yes i know this is funny haha. but i,m not shearing keys and yes i did mod the stator and unless you are and idiot you can not possibley put the coils on the wrong way. If you would like to see a vid check out the thread ( no reverse ) or look it up on youtube ( blaster w/only reverse) look guys please cut the bs I just want to fix it so I can take my 2 boys riding w/there dirt bikes. I cant be the only person w/this problem. thanks
is your stator put on 180* wrong, i would like to see a pic of the stator on the bike how it is right now

like they say it is a timing issue it only takes a few degrees to make it go in reverse as i have this problem on my 03 but then again i was trying to use an 02 plate had to buy the 03 plate to make it go forward so make sure you have the right year plate hope this helps
Ok so I checked part # it is (2XJ), I looked in my chymer book and it calls out for (2XJ) any other ideas please. I have an 89 blaster.
Nice question mr305 I have asked that same one. So will the bike be ok or is it just a bandade to a bigger problem? I have wondered if I could just keep messing with the timing to tune it in. Thanks
Got the bike some time ago for free dont have any history. I just got it running last month after removing all electronics. installing tors kit. and put a set of rings in few months back and when I finally got it running only reverse until someone on here said to retard it well it work but is it ok to run that way?
