Scored a 400 ex shock off an 01 and am at work on my phone and am a machine op and need to know if theres any mods that need to be done while im at work?i did a quick search and didnt see a write up is there one for what needs to be done or anyone want to give me a run down?

Also is there a link to ken oconnors peices he offers to bolt this on to the blaster?

Bottom mount needs drilled to 12mm i think? He says in the vid. And u could either order or make the bushings and bolt its up to you

Ok i just went to the link watched the video and thats exactly what i needed and needed to know.soooo ill be ordering the kit.now i see he has two listed the one for 25 gets me everything correct?id rather buy from a builder than chase this stuff at true value or ace.

Ok just ordered the kit from ken.

Now i rewatched his video on break and seen he shows theres some fine tuning that can be done with this shock and im wondering where would be a good starting point for a big guy like myself?im 6'3 and 240lbs and i ride trails and jump it nothing crazy but i get some descent air but mostly trail riding.

But id like to be cushy like my KDX.the KDX rides like a lincoln and handles like a vette on the trails.is there anyway to get the best of both worlds with this shock?i already put banshee shocks up front and its helped alot.

put the compression and rebound screws about half way to start and wind up your preload on the spring to compentsate for your mass. this is a case where you know best, just test it and adjust till you happy

^^^^ good advise

The compression and rebound screw turn about 3.5 turns lock to lock so be VERY careful. If you screw the screws out past their farthest out point (just turn until it gets resistance don't torque them) and jam them you'll have ruined your adjustment forever.

My adjustment screws are set about 2 turns in on the compression and 1.5 turns in on the rebound. That's a little more than halfway on compression and a little less than halfway on the rebound. It seems to be a happy medium between slamming and jarring.

One more question does this shock interfere with the stock air box at all because im still using it and would like go continue to use it im not a big fan of clamp on filters.

very minimal, it will rub it a little but you can file some of the box away or try to slide you r rear fenders back some. mine just rubs a little i didnt do any modifications to it at all.

Cool ill look and see on mine when i get everything here.

How big of a difference is this ex shock going to be comparred to the stock blasters?

My blaster rides like a log wagon.

well i no longer feel like im going to fly over the handlebars when going through woops and i dont bottom out if i take jumps but this could be from the blown stocker. im sure you will like it but be sure and give us a ride report and your opinion...

it takes that prehistorc edge off the blaster and gives it a more 'modern' feel as well as giving far more travel and adjustability! you wont regret it! ditto about the airbox, just scrape or sand the plastics, just check where it touches first though
