35mm kehnin carb will it work

2001 blaster bogs bad off idle then overrevs. Tors is removed . when it over revs i hve to kick it up a gear for them to drop. I have access to a 35mm kehnin carb off another blaster for 80 bucks with twist throttle will this cure my problem or make it worse
 
I'm mechanically inclined, but how do I adjust the main needle? Whats causing the quad to rev out of control. I replace the throttle cable. When it over revs if i pull the choke out sometimes it will drop down. Ready to give up on this thing frustrating.
 
do you have enough free play in the throttle cable after you replaced it?
if so, i'd say that is sounds like a vacuum leak. hold a lit cigarette around the carb/intake area to see if there's any air leakin out. or just start the bike and spray the area w/ carb cleaner and listen for a change in the revs.
i highly doubt that it would be your main jet or needle position as those are only active in the 1/3 through full throttle range. sounds like your problem would be the pilot jet/air screw if it's indeed a carb issue.
 
today I pulled the carb off and checked the position of the main needle and it was on the second notch from the top and I moved it to the middle notch which should be stock from what I have been hearing. So when I did that did I lean it out or make it richer? It seems to be getting a little better, Power improved in the mid range some. The throttle doesn't want to stick like it did.But it stills bogs off the line and down low until the revs come up and then its good thru all the gears. The main needle had 5j22 etched on it is this the correct jet for a stock blaster.And if i raise the needle to the fourth notch What will happen
 
I had a similar problem w/ my Blaster and stock carb. I removed TORS and the thing revved out of control also. I also couldn't get power at about half throttle. It felt like it wanted to go but couldn't. I tried rebuilding carb and changing main jets w/ no luck. I had access to a 30mm carb and the thing started second kick and ran great after install. I'm really thinking my TORS was causing a problem and the TORS removal cap was half of what I paid for the 30mm carb.
