As some of you know. I took a beatin at the trails with stock shocks. And the wife 300ex rode like a Caddy!!! So I measured the front shocks. Blaster shocks are 15" and 300ex are 14". I can swap shocks between the 2 machines so it would be no cost to me. And I can live with the inch lower front end. Think it would be worth it to swap shocks? A few people said solid metal rods are better than blaster shocks. Ha ha ha ha!!!! So what do you guys think?

I have a couple thoughts on this. First, losing an inch on the shock will likely lose you close to 2 inches ground clearance do the motion ratio of the front suspension. On the kind of stuff we ride on around here, that just wouldn't work.
Second, Blaster shocks don't suck nearly as bad with +3 arms. With the stock arms they are very harsh. I don't know if its the springs, damping or what, but with longer arms they are not nearly as bad. Not great, but very much improved. I know this doesn't help you, but like I said, it's just my thoughts. :D

I wouldnt give up an inch of ground clearance if I didnt have to. I mean, honestly just do it and see if it really matters.

Id do it personally if it were me, but I cant, so its up to you to let us know whats what.

Blaner has probably done more with the suspension of his Blaster than 99 percent of the guys on this website have. He has a really good understanding of the geometry and what altering that geometry will do.

I honestly dont think just because the 300ex shocks feel good on a 300ex they will on a blaster. Giving up an inch of clearance is a big deal. Its also going to alter their damping rate, and how much spring is used, which can alter the spring rate as well.

I mean, thats all on paper, the OP can simply put em on, give em a shot and see how they feel, but since its a thread asking about opinions, you gave yours, Blaner gave his.

Dont get your panties in a bunch.
