Sicivic dude I took the head off yesterday and got the piston to the very bottom and measured with the verniers it was roughly 57mm from top of piston to edge of cylinder top. Also do you know a easy way to tell between a normal cylinder and a nikasil plated one? Thanks

Stock stroke then.... the stock stroke is 57mm. The +3 stroker crank puts it right at 60mm.

Alrighty then. The regular iron liner has a dull grey color to it and it's particularly easy to tell where the liner ends and the aluminum begins on the intake side base mating surface, the iron is what hangs out of the bottom of the aluminum cylinder.

Not too much experience with Nikasil'd cylinder but I'm assuming the sleeve that hangs out of the base mounting area will be aluminum colored instead of dull grey. The coating on the inside of the cylinder should be extremely hard and slick but it can be easily damaged so be very careful with it.

It looks like the piston was installed backwards with the ring ends on the exhaust side,I figured it was an airsal cylinder but the picture is dark on my screen.the cylinder will need to be stripped bored to clean it up and replated.

sicivic could you tell from this? as dualstroke said airsal is only a 71mm nikasil but mine is a 72mm running a vitos piston thanks craig

Craif, that LOOKS like an iron cylinder there in your picture.

Pickled, the picture you put up from F7's website doesn't really show but the end of the sleeve and you can't really tell what it looks like, like that.

I was thinking that was the best of the pics because of the unique exhaust port but also just kinda of a link to all if you use browser for comparison just was searching for something to compare, but I really don't know so will let the techs (you) handle any questions.

I got curious because I had also never seen that cylinder......if it is an airsal lasxgames could tell he is the only one I know running one

It's an airsal cylinder FOR SURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! again!!! Like I told Craig my guess is that someone instaled a sleeve into this, maybe an la sleeve since there is no intake bridge??I have heard of people attempting this but never seen a finished result. It saves them from sending them out to be renikasil and they can just bore. That is my guess beacuse it is absolutely an airsal cylinder(which originates in overseas,Germany I believe but may be wrong) and they come with a 71mm bore.I am going to take some pics of my airsal cylinder and post them up for all to see.

Beats, I wasn't knocking you buddy, only pointing out that the picture off the F7 website isn't the best for telling what the nikasil'd sleeve looks like because that pic only shows the very bottom of the sleeve (not from the side so you can see the difference between the aluminum and sleeve).

I believe the airsal 240 cylinder uses an iron sleeve, only the airsal 200cc "natioanl series" uses the nikasil'd cylinder. I believe lasxgames has the "national series" cylinder so perhaps he knows better.

your thinking of the la sleeve kits, the standard and bigbore cyls from airsal are plated.the last picture looks to me like its plated but its hard to tell because the pictures are so dark.

Craigz, where did you get the cylinder from, did you buy it new?
