ok so i have got about 5 hours on my blaster after a rebuild and have noticed that while holding a steady speed at about 3/4 or more that is starts surging or missing acting like it's out of fuel.I runs great down low-mid but after that It feels like it want WAY more go but caint pull through it.
95' blaster:
50 over
TORs removed
cobra silencer
uni filter
no lid
premix 32:1
B8ES plug
240 main
32.5 pilot
2nd clip from bottem
My plug looks kind of greyish
So i'm think i am lean ? Thought-opinions ?

i would also like to add that it will run great for about 20-30 minutes then will start dying and takes 7-8 kicks to get it goin again and then it backfires out the tailpipe. After it dies i can pull the plug and it's wet.

my stock blaster and those of my friends run a 270 main with the same pilot as yours (next size up from stock) and with the clip in the same position with closed or open airboxes and gutted stock silencer. they are a little rich but run clean and one of them has well over 300 hours on the stock piston and rings. my friend nagged me to do the same to my stock blaster for years, and i finally did after riding his duaghter quad- it suprised me how much better hers ran than mine even with over 250 more hours on the machine, so i did the same. most of his duaghters riding is done at the Oregon dunes and is at sea level to 1000 feet. since you have an aftermarket silencer i would try a 270 an then do a plug chop-- then let us know the results.

Ok, can anybody recommend the best place to buy high quality jets ?
Any other idea's on what else i may change ? Clip location, pilot jet or whatever else ?

I would just try a 270 main and see how it runs. and only make one change at a time so that you understand how each change has affected your engine performance. depending on other factors like elevation you might be okay with a 260 main but you always want to start on the safe (read: rich) side.

By the way,i am about 700 ft above sea level, with an averaged temp (at this time) of about 80 degree's,with about 70 % humidity. I am 230 lbs,and ride in the woods with alot of hill climbing. I have all stock gearing as well.

just been thru this, mods in sig, i got a 250 main, clip 2nd down, and thought it was runnin rich, so try'd it without the lid, ran good, but after a few wot runs, and a plug read, which was pure white, <<way too lean, put the lid on, and too rich, <<smokin out the pipe
drilled a couple holes in the lid, it got better, and plug reads a nice cardboard color, but still a slight bog in 3rd and 4th gear, 3/4 throttle, gotta play with it a little more tomorrow, prolly clip position
if i was you id put that lid back on before you fry it, 240 is too lean for no lid

he will also have a little better exhaust flow than you will as he has an aftermarket silencer. the least he should get is a 270 and see how it runs and work down from there.

so i am guessing (DUH) that it would be a BAD idea to put on my after market head pipe until i have an assortment of jets ?
And by the way,i didn't get a lid with it.
Anybody think this may be why he burnt the engine up 3 times before i got it ?

yes, jetting is the hardest part of doing modifications to the engine, intake, and/or exhaust. once everyone knows your final mods they will be able to help dial you in on the jetting. you will have to make sure that it is fine tuned. the link below takes you to an in depth article on jetting....

thanx for that link it has really helped me to better understand what is what !!

so i pulled my plug after a WOT run in 6th and it looks like a tan/buckskin color ? The last plug i checked looked greyish,i have not changed anything between the 2 other than the plug itself.

By the way the first plug (greyish one) was after warm up,with abou 2 hours on top end after breakin.
