2g00d's 1989 Blaster Build

with any luck...all three of us will be riding this summer... maybe find a place to camp / ride for a weekend?

Had time to work on it today, Cut my front fenders and started painting my rims. Also sold my dirt bike for $700, so thats money going into this project. (see my wanted thread!) I:I

So all of my parts are sandblasted and back in my shop, my rear rims are painted and still working on the fronts. The plastics are cut and should be painted by the end of today. and I have a load of parts on the way, nerf bars, a new carb with throttle cable and thumb throttle, a new silencer, and I may have a bumper and grab bar. I:I thanks to '88 Blaster and rtaylor.

Things are really moving forward, the frame is primed, a lot of parts are done, the rims are done, still need to paint the rear fenders and the gas tank cover. The seat is getting recovered soon, and the frame will be getting 2 coats of lime green paint and 1 of clear coat through this week. I also bought Renthal handle bars and a DG grab bar, on their way, with all the other stuff. I:I

I should be done by the end of next weekend, but all the mods won't be on it for a while as shipping is slow right now.

so after I painted the frame with engine enamel, I can't put clear coat on it, nor can I apply more than 1 coat of the paint, but after only 2 hours, its rock solid, I can't scratch it off, so I decided to start putting her back together. :) lookin mighty fine so far. may be riding this weekend.

My DIY seat recovering lol, I cut a big piece off an old bbq cover, its really tough weather proof stuff, went on nicely.

thanks man, its almost there.

I'm having an issue with spark, it will only have spark if the tors is unplugged, before the project it ran perfect with it plugged in, but whatever makes it run. =P The spark looks weak, but I don't know what a good spark looks like, so I just hope it starts when I try, or all of this is worthless.

no, I couldn't clear coat it or the enamel paint I put on the frame, I just clear coated the parts I left bare metal, the A arms, Control arms, swinger, pegs, etc so they wouldn't rust. It and the enamel paint I put on the frame are so tough, I'd recommend it.

this is it.

ignore the sh*tty grab bar and bumper, new ones on the way, also nerf bars, front spacers, and renthal handle bars. I just need to finish fitting the ball joints on (sandblasting messed up the threads, doing a little rednecking on it) about an hour of work tomorrow morning and I'm going for a rip.
