240 kit help!

So I just got my vito's 240 kit

was running it in and was getting to the end of running it in.
I was riding it on this hilly road and I had rode about 1 mile and the quad just lost power and died.

low comp and therefore wont start

any ideas??

I thought maybe the piston?
but i heard somthing about the head bolts needing retorked after a while?

did u break it in before u went riding

ye I had rode it dead slow and was doing 50% throttle at the time i was still in the process of breakin it in when it happend
was in 4th when it cut out

sounds like you have blow by, check and see if everything is seating properly

yeah that cast iron is sh*t, don't gop anywhere near it.

your stock bore is 66mm i think, the 240 is 72mm

Ye im considering going for 73mm coz I know a guy that can do a rebore but I am hopings its the head bolts as i just dished out 500 for the 240 kit

do not do more boring than necessary because the more you mess with it the less reliable it becomes, external mods aren't as bad as when you start getting into changing the engine completely, like porting will make the engine perform better, but it is lso cutting the life span of the engine. so be careful. you don't want to lose that 500 you just spent. I:I

well if you are going to do the port and polish id let one of the guys on here that do it,wildcard, kennedy power, flotek, those are 3 that i know of on here that have had nothing but amazing reviews. and wtf do you mean by "ok ano a guy that will polish it" not quite following you?

and i stay in the uk so sorta cant get the head sent out to sum1 in usa

U should nt have to get anything bored. when u assebled the engine did u put the ring gap lined up with the pin sticking out of the piston? have u pulled the cylinder? if there isnt any damage u dont need a rebore. maybe only the rings are damaged. maybe a hone will clear it up. i bought a destryoed vitos bb and had it overbored to a 72.5 i beleive. and if you went with the cast aluminum piston i would suggest getting a wossner forged piston, i think this is what wiesco offers for this size. real nice quality. but before you go doing that check u stuff out. and yes i retorque the head every few rides. 20ft lbs

my mecanic pulled off the hed and the piston can be save so he is working on it

honing the head cleared it up nice

goin to save up for a forge piston though coz i dont wanna do anymore damage
