Hopefully some of you Blaster guys will be able to help me out here. I just picked up this 2002 Blaster in mint cond cheap, because it was bogging out. I got it home, it started on the first kick and idled perfect. The first 1/4 throttle is fine, than anything after that it just bogs. It wont stall out, just bogs down very far. I pulled the carb, cleaned it, it ran fine for 1 day, brought it home where it sat for a week, then when I started it again it was right back to the same problem. I just pulled the carb and cleaned it again but still having the problem. Any suggestions?

id say your idle isnt high enough or its not getting enough gas try and put a tiny bit bigger jet it it that should fix the problem

Do a compression test and a leak down test to see what the condition of your motor is. When you cleaned your carb, did you pull the jet and clean all the passage ways real good ?make sure you get all the little holes in the side of the pilot jet.

The idle is fine, I even adjusted it both ways and the problem continued. It ran just fine last week with the jet that is currently in it, but after sitting for a week the problem returned.

TORS system just removed, leak test showed NO leaks, compression 140psi, reeds fine, problem still exists.

This may be a long shot but pull your pipe and check there's no crap on it or your silencer. Install it and make sure you have no leaks in the exhaust.

Ill give it a shot this evening. The thing that aggrivates me the most here is that I have been wrenching on motors for 20+yrs and can't figure this one thing out.

Is the air filter clean? Does 2002 have parking brake switch? Tors eliminated? Really sounds like a jetting/airleak issue.

air filter was cleaned, gonna tear the carb apart again and replace the jet and and float bowl gasket. No parking brake switch. (not that the brakes work anyway)

What carb are you running? What are the pilot, main sizes and the needle position? What is your float height? B8ES spark plug? I'm kinda having the same issues right now...go figure.

Don't put yourself down, I have been in the automotive game for over 50 years and occasionally I have to stand back and scratch my head for a while.

Don't worry, the guys here will point you in the right direction.

Don't feel bad. I've been been working on stuff starting a age 13 and was surprised at the things I learned on here about 2 stroke motors.

When I used to be a big beer drinker everything I worked on got fixed (maybe not that night, but eventually it did). Possibly that is the answer?
