i was riding in in the woods and it was running fine. all the sudden it shut off. when i kick it does nothing. i changed the plug and still nothing. i took the carb apart cleaned it out and sprayed starter fluid in it and still nothing. i can push start it but it turns off when i let off the gas. also help would be great.

sounds like the t.o.r.s system or the stator, most likely tors. do you have it disconnected? also are you getting spark?

i have no idea what the tors or stator are. i think its getting spark. when i push start it is will run as long as i keep giving it gas. once i let off the gas it shuts off automatically.

get yourself a clymer manual (bout 30$) explains alot, pull the plug outta the head leave it plugged into the coil have a buddy kick it over while you look and see if theres consistant spark, while the plugs out get the compression checked

when you check the spark that way make sure the plug is gorunded.. set the metal body of the plug against the head...

as long as your toucbign to porcelin or the plug boot your fine.. and even if you were to get a little nip from that plug.. it doesn't hurt.

yea man get that compression check
mine did the same and i needed a rebuild
if you dont kno alot about your bike then i would ask around for someone that knows how to rebuild a bike because the bill from yamaha will be hella expensive

while i do agree with getting a manual.. DON'T get a clymer.. THEY SUCK!!! get a factory yamaha manual you'll be MUCH MUCH MUCH happier.

for a good compression tester i reccemend teh craftsman compression tester kit.. it's around $60// you'll gt your moneys worth.. DO NOT BUY A CHAEP ONE.. also get one that threads into teh plug hole.. the one you hold against the head are VERY VERY inacurate.. that craftsman one is a good quality tool that will last you a very long time and will nto break the bank by any means..
