My neighbor has a 2000 can am ds650 for sale 2400 has a yoshi exhaust,k&n filter,and a jet kit.now he claims these things do 105mph and will rape a banshee or even a raptor.is any of this true I've rode my buddies 660R with about the same mods and its scarry fast.but I've never rode these bombardiers. I was telling him I'm looking for a banshee when he told me he just got this thing and made all these claims.but if its all true are these things worth 2400 what about maintenance on these are they expensive and a pita to work on?it looks brand new no scratches on the plastics everything looks brand new.so whatcha guys think good buy?

They are fast, but I dont see 100 without a cam and head work. Don't remember the years exactly but the early one had caster issues and were really twitchy. Alba had new upper aarms built that fixed it. They are heavy but the stock suspesion was halfway decent. Alba gave me one to race once, but it siezed prerunning. they said when there mechanic changed the oil, the system didnt get primed right. I know it went at least 70 as alba had it set up, stock pipe etc.
I want even racing actively at the time, the owner of alba just called me up and asked me if I wanted to take it out and race it for the weekend and tell him what I thought.
sorry bout going off the topic but, sweeeeeet, i wish that companys would do that to me, i'd race whatever they gave me

on the subject of DS650's. they were quick quads. kinda like the original big bore sport. They had their bugs as do most rushed BRP products such as the DS450.
On the subject of Alba, their sh*t must blow up a lot. I got my hands on a 04 Alba built YFZ 450 with a seized head for a grand 3 years ago.

So the top speed isn't true.what about his claims of beasting 660Rs and banshees.the thing looks great and I bet its heavy that's a big quad lol.so basically what I'm asking is for 2400 can I get something faster and more reliable?id really like a banshee but thought if this was that great id be better off with this 650.
ya it will beat stock 660r and stock banshees. a 660r with similar work will be close. a piped banshee might be even but i am going to lean toward the banshee.
they are big, but have good torque and ride smooth. not really a trail quad, more of a cruiser for the dunes.

the care and feeding of anything built can get expensive.
but really a banshee is one of the cheapest to build.
