2000 blaster dies when throttle hammered

Do your research. Set a budget. And if you feel comfortable in your mechanic ability then go test ride it. You'll know if something's wrong within the first few minutes of riding it and just the way it sounds.

Agreed. Jadidaskv I think you already know the answer you want from us, so better to just go for a test ride and check if the Blaster meets your expectations before you buy it :D

It seems like a fair price, from where I am across the internet having never seen the quad (so take that for what it's worth).

You should just count on there being SOMETHING that needs replacing on an old quad (maybe something big, hopefully something small), so don't go blow the other $400 on beer and pornography until you figure out what it is. :p

Lmao. Ya i set a budget of 1000-1100, then another 200-400 if anything needs replacing. Hoping it doesnt obviously, which is why i i picked out the cleanest one i could find within my budget and asking around here with the info he had given me. Im about to head down there now to look at it n hopefully bring it home im excited and nervous at the same time lol.

This is the only pic he had. Pretty damn clean huh?

The chain was replaced lol. Other than the airbox lid that was missing, which i picked one up for $15 on the way home from someone on craigslist parting out a blaster in my home town, the top chain roller is a little warn and needs replacing soon. Couple little scuffs, scratches, and a little ding in the front bumper, but other than that its really nice shape.

Runs great with the piece of cardboard he taped over where the airbox lid goes lol. Without that it cut out when the throttle was hammered, but with it, it runs beautifully.

Needs a quick bath but even still its not very dirty. Ill post a couple pics tomorrow since its too dark tonight.

Ya that's what they go for around here as well. Most of them around $1500-2000 in great shape. Seen one for $2500 that looked like it was never even riden. Can find them for $1000 in decent shape. Average is $1500 for a good one. I seen one that had a whole crap ton of aftermarket/performance parts for $1200, but had no motor lol. I def got a good deal on mine though lol

Ah the old carboard performance mod; a classic. The biggest mistake people make there is using cardboard from a box of All-Bran Flakes; this gives the quad too much gas and it starts to run rich. Nothing slapping a Monster sticker on can't fix though :p

Enjoy it buddy! :D

Looks good. But put the chain around frame as the bumper is easy to remove and steal bike.
Oh i know...i was just running out of daylight when i locked it up n the chain was a little short so i jus did what i could as fast as i could for the night. Switched it after the pics.

Lmfao. Good one

It has had the tors delete as well.
Why does almost everyone remove the tors system? "Fix the tors system"! It's very simple to check. Read the Yamaha repair tree chart one normally open switch and one normally closed switch above the carb, that both tell the cdi unit to either work as rev limiter and only allow base idle speed, or allow normal Rpms and timing shift to occur. What's the big deal? It could be the difference of you living or dying. Yamaha didn't just put it there to puzzle the masses. It's a safety system that in all actuality really works when it's properly adjusted.

The Niche cylinder kit is a cheap China kit but with proper deburring/ chamfering and porting ,polishing and matching, can work rather well. Do not just bolt on on though, it will fail from the poor casting and lack of detail of the overall manufacturer ability to properly clean and remove aluminum splash from transfer ports, and removing loose debris that is always present. ITS NOT A ORIGINAL YAMAHA OE CYLINDER made in Japan, and it did not cost $275.00 either

You must be a Yamaha Rep. I'll tell you why to remove it. It's about as useless as a guys nipple.

It's not going to save a live. In fact, it might cause someone to check into a mental rehab for all the frustration it causes.

If in fact your bike starts to 'Run away' and the throttle sticks open, do yourself a favor and push the little red button on the left side of the handle bar.

I have to say there is one downside of having it removed. Missing the trash can in the corner of the garage, having to walk over, bend down and pick it up to throw it away.

Or just pull the tether cable out if you cannot be stuffed pushing the kill button. :)

I also removed mine and sold it.
