Couple years ago a bought me a 99 Blaster for $300. It run great but the brakes sucked then the rings got fried because of the junk oil system. I tore it down and replaced the top end. Then last spring I moved up to Illinois with my ex and couldn't bring my blaster. So it sit till now. I went to go start it and it's locked up. The axle carrier is all messed up So I'm rebuilding it. I already started tearin it down the other day. What's the best way to get the cylinder off

Pics

Plans-
Rebuild the whole motor
Maybe port and polish
Front hydro blaster or banshee
Awk rear hydro setup
Toomey exhaust
Custom air box
Tors removed
New reeds
New tires
Axle carrier
Banshee axle if it will work with Awks brakes
New sprocket and chain

Pour a little WD40 into the plug hole, and let it sit for a while, the rings are possibly frozen in the bore.

Welcome to the forum. I do it by lifting up on the cylinder and hard tapping down on the piston with a large wood hammer handle.

nice start

Thanks

I thought about usin WD40 or PB Blaster but I wasn't for sure how well it worked. Thanks

I maybe try that if nothin else works. Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Where abouts in Illinois are you from?

Thanks. I was livin in Carthage till me and my ex broke up. Now I'm livin in Missouri again

The penetrating oil should loosen up the rings enough to be able to be tapped out with the hammer handle.

Alright I'm goin to get some WD45 tomorrow and spray in there and let it sit for a couple of days.

What size wrench do I need to get for the big swingarm/motor bolt/nut? I think it's a 20 or 21 but I can remember

Well I got the motor out today and the head and cylinder off. The piston wasn't stuck but one of the skirts busted off and is in the case some where not lettin the crank move at all. Now I get to spilt the case and I have no idea now to. Pics to come

Splitting the cases isn't that hard. A good place to start would be to get some ziplock bags and a Sharpie. Label everything you take off and draw a diagram of where it all goes back.

It might be worth getting your crankshaft rebuilt also. Peace of mind on a fresh total rebuild has no price.

Thanks for the videos Awk. I got the pm about the brakes and will pm back asap.

Thanks Dirtysquared. I was wonderin how I was goin to keep everything together. I never thought to use zip lock bags

No problem. Buy larger ziplock bags. Its $5 well spent. It makes knowing what everything is and where it goes alot easier.
