My 98 is blaster is stock. I'm taking it to the shop on Monday for a rebuild/bore/stroke. 40 thousands over. Top & bottom end re build. What kind of kit should I go with? I mainly plan to ride on backroads and dirt roads, maybe some tracks. I want it extremely fast. Great acceleration, and top speed. I hear about reeds, compression ratio, "what is the bottom end built like"? Things like that. I want it beefed to the max. Any suggestions on what to ask for? I have the money to have it blue printed if need be, but mainly would like a blaster in the end comparable to a banshee! Also, it came with no back brakes. Just foot brake pedal with spring, and on axel, one single brake disk, with no caliper. This is good because I heard you can upgrade to a warrior, or banshee rear braking system. What do you need in total? Rear caliper, cable, pad of sort im guessing, since it is disc breaking? Also, last time I owned a cycle was back in 2001, with a 2001 KX125, and FMF was good back then. Is it still one of the better pipes? If I go with FMF, What kind of jetting should I go with? What size carb is best to keep up with the bore and stroke? What else should I be considering? Please help me asap. ALL ADVICE AND OPINIONS WELCOME. I am also upgrading to banshee hubs in the rear so I can run a wider rear wheel & tire set up. Thanks in advance to all who reply!

Im looking for this setup, if it will bring me top speed.

there are lots of routes you can go, we have a handfull of awesome builders here, chutzell, flotek, ken oconner, wildcard. all do amazing work and will make ur blasty haul ass. mine is flotek ported with a +3 stroker and a bunch of other stuff and it does pretty well.

If its a decent shop you could go with a +3crank from vitos and have them port the topend for the added stroke. Also I got off the phone with la sleeve yesterday and they are going to be getting there 240 kits back in stock. We have been waiting for these for a while and they are the mac daddy of topends for the blaster. You will want around a 35mm carb and a right bend pipe to compliment the setup. Dynopor, lrd, or f7, trinity pipes. Maybe even a vitos pipe as its a bigbore if you go that route. Cpi also will custom make you a pipe but that's expensive. Keep us updated on this!

First off, whats with the type? Strange block print anyone?

If you are going to replace the crankshaft, you might as well replace it with it a +3 stroker crank. The price difference is about $20 and the stroker crank allows for much more extreme porting.

Next, you need to get a port job to match your exhaust. Considering the terrain you are looking at riding in an aggressive trail port is right up your alley. You should also look into replacing your exhaust system with something a little more free flowing. A toomey, dyno port, power pro's/ F& would do nicely for an all around build.

Also a replacement carburetor would work well too. A PWK 33 for a stock bore built blaster engine is absolutely beastly. If you can't find the 33, a PJ34 is nice too!

oh, you want big bore do you? Get ready to start shelling out the moolah. Evilelvis might have a vito's 240 kit he might be willing to part with.... I'm sure for a fee he'd ship it to ya.

You can get some banshee or warrior brakes and fabricate them on if its pre03. The fronts you can get from a 03+ blaster that are hydro. Might have to do some searching to find what works best. Lots of info on this site on the subject. Welcome to the forum!

How much? Rough Guestimate? The shop is good. They can do it all. I just need to know what to tell them. I want a Blaster I can't hold on to. Thanks guys!

1998 blaster. In the original post, I explained it had no back brakes but that's good because this is just the advice I was in search of. I will check the shop for pricing, but what or who is pretty competetive in pricing? Minus e-bay, unless the parts dont really matter if they are used... Thanks

Yeah I'm a little slow sometimes... on my phone and reading lots of posts trying to do to manythings at once I missed it. Keep an eye out on here for some parts but ebay may be a good option because you can find good deals on decent parts on there. I usually read the description well and check there seller feedback. Norman420 a member here sells conversion spindles that bolt up to hydrolics from banshees and raptors as well. With the extra hp your going to want the stopping power for sure. You should also consider suspension upgrades. Banshee front shocks fit and are somewhat of an improment but elkas are better just expensive imo. The rear takes a 400 ex shock with some kenoconnor bushings and is way better than stock crap. With the extra hp you may also consider a longer swingarm as well to keep the front end down. Look into oil injection removal to....
If you get the stock jug ported see if they can modify the head for you. There is good powe r locked away in the stock head;-)

this is what I would do buy a vito's cyl. kit for $500 replace the crappy 40 over piston with there .40 superstock +5 piston kit for $120 buy there +3 stroker crank $159 kit, buy boyesen reed valve kit for $170 helps for more down low to even out all the power up top with the motor mods and buy a toomey pipe kit $350 ishmost Power I'v seen here's a chart to show how much on stock settings....

oo nice dyno results... but not even 30hp?? where is the dyno of any right bend pipes with a real port job? and are you saying buy the vitos 240 topend or just there overpriced piston? if he wants some real results he should get a port job and a head mod with the stroker and i guarantee more than 30 hp, instead of waisting money on that piston. imo.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Members who know their $hi+, and can have opinions, and question them as well. The price is not an issue. Sounds like for $1,000, I can get where I'm looking to be, and that is no bother. I would definately like to get top horse power. I want it scary fast. I just ride, old dirt roads, back roads, and such, but I own over 6 acres and a bob cat. Thinking of clearing out a track in the back yard! If someone knows where I can save money, but gain horsepower based off the dyno results, please feel free to post your opinions. By that, I mean, does someone think I can spend less or equal to dyno chart, and gain more horse power by setting it up different? I am dropping off the 98 Blaster to the shop guys tomorrow. And it looks like some one is wanting to trade an 03 Raptor for one of my dogs...lol. Do you guys like the Raptors?

yea thats true but the pipe is the only thing on it to be able to produce that 26 HP though if you added what i said you would obviously have more than what the chart says

Got the Raptor today. 2001. It's pretty stock, and to be honest, I would take my dog back. Not as fast as others claimed and I only weigh 120 lbs. I just love the way a 2stroke screams... Should have got the Banshee, I am still rebuilding the Blaster, because the 4 stroke jus doesn't cut the mustard!
