04 kodiak 450 help

we are thinking about buying a kodiak 450 for 2100 and the only problem it has is that the rev limiter only lets it go 21 mph like it is in 4x4 and wondering what yall think the problem is

Sounds like an electrical problem, is it cutting out and spluttering at 21MPH?

no it doesent cut out or anything it will just go 21 witch they are suppost to go about 55 - 60 mph

So what does the motor do when it reaches it's top speed? Revving really high, bogging, mid revs but won't go higher?

If the belt has gotten glazed over then yes it will slip. Clutch buttons or spring maybe?

the rappy's had a problem with the reverse rev limiter, and would only let them go so fast when it fugged up, like it was in reverese the whole time, but i think the reverese light came on too ???
check into the reverse, and nuetral switches for bad sending units and bad connections
seach for how to ground them out to test the sending units

he said he called sloanes and they said it was a switch that the bult slapped up aganist when it was in 4x4 and would only let it go 21 and they said the switch went bad and it would think it was in 4x4 all the time and would only let it go 21
