HELLO from Florida roomies. i am 34 year old diesel mechanic but very green to 4 wheelers. i am going to look at a 03 blaster tomorrow. this is my first 4 wheeler. i am told the 4 wheeler is not running i talked to the owner on the phone and he does not seem to mechanically inclined or does not really wanna say what happen. he told me engine needs to be replaced or rebuilt he said it was running then just stopped, not sure if its locked up at this point or what. he is asking 300 for it with title not a bad price and well within my budget for a project 4 wheeler. my friend that told me about it said the 4 wheeler is in very nice shape. i am a mechanic by trade and know what to look for in an engine but like i said i am green to 4 wheelers. i guess my question is. what should i look out for and should i even bother ? i am 34 years old 6 foot 200 lbs not lookin to go 100 mph just lookin for something to have some fun with. am i going about this all wrong? i am thinking that if nothing else it has to be worth that in parts. any help will help. thanks

sounds like a good deal, lets get some pic tho, just to make sure ts not a pile of junk, if its pretty well maintained and the engine is not completely destroyed, it is easily worth it

you could easily get that if in parts if it is an 03. the 03+ have disc hydro brakes all the way around. and that upgrade sells for a pretty good price. just look for normal things man. cracked welds and things like that. but it is def worth that price if it IS an 03+

thanks guys i am going to look at it in the morning IF its still there my "friend" told a few people but i talked to the guy tonight and he didnt say much about others being interested. i will report back tomorrow evening.

Welcome, Blasters are a fun quad and easy to work on, perfect to get your feet wet with, so to speak. All the help you'll need is right here! I'd take my ol' lady with me, (the garage sale QUEEN of jewing people down!). It's amazing what boobs in a low cut top can do.... She'd get it for a $100 bucks! lol :D

Hahahahahahahaha, sweet! I wonder if I can put my wife's DDD's to work getting good deals on quad parts? :D

And by the way, welcome! You'll have fun on that Blaster.

well i got her home she seems all there. at first look it seems someone at sometime disconnected the oil injection. it could use some rear tires.it will not kick over BUT i did pull the plug and spray some PB blaster in the cylinder. i then put it in gear and rocked it back and forth and got the engine to turn over some and about half a kick on the kicker till it locked up again. i am thinking jug and piston? i will tear into it this weekend and see what i bought. let me know what you guys think. 300 with title.

I'm betting that the previous owner didn't premix the fuel and seized it. You'll probably need to replace the crank as well as the top end. A good deal anyways though!!!!

according to the title the owner i bought it from has had it since 07. but your right anyone could have put just gas it in not realizing it needed to be mixed

Seeing you 300 dollar find compared to my 300 dollar find brings a tear to my eye. You did real well. I spent a solid month trying to find the best project blaster and ended up with my 01 that has crappy plastics, need's half the plastic hardware, and I had to rebuild it. Congrats on the find man! I:I
