YZ 400 in a blaster

got some work done on the new swingarm.

made some slits in the pipe i will be using for the length of the arm

The slits will sit around the back plate for the axle carrier. Here you can see the outline of one of the plates I will attach to the axle carrier.

What size tubing are ya using? Ya got me a little concerned. Are the cross members gonna be the same size tube? Welding the cross members to the arm tubes will weaken the arm tubes around the welds. I can't tell your plans from the pix and I'm not sayin it's wrong but ya got me kinda worrying. How bout a little more info on the plan :)

outside diameter of the tube is 1.5 inches and its either 10 guage or 12 guage tubing. cross members will be of same size. and i will cut half circles in the tubeing to weld to the bearing housing that the bolt goes through.

Dude I think you'll be fine with what you're doing. If you're concerned about that being potential weak spots, slide a slug long enough to stagger over the area where the crosstube welds are gonna be inside the side tubes. Drill a 1/4" hole through the side tube and spot weld the slugs to keep them from moving.

There ya go. That would ease my concern :)

Well I decided to mail my jug off to Denny at Flotek. While my bike is down for that I also decided to make my own swingarm completely from scratch.

heres the swingarm with the template i made for the carrier end.

heres the 1/4 plate steel i will use for the part that the carrier will bolt to. You can see I already traced one of the templates on there.

And heres the rest of the steel I will use for the swing arm.

Heres a picture of the piston after a few hours. Does this look normal?

Your piston looks like your head gasket is leaking judging by the burn pattern around the edges of it.
Does it ever look wet where the head and jug bolts together after a run?

Are you sure he said silicone?
Your best bet is to run stock compression, and torque the bolts down approx 10 ft lbs over stock.
You could also O-ring it but it's not necessary on a play bike.

silicone, gasket sealer, something along those lines. I forgot exactly what he said. I will ask him again though.

Im goin to redo my head part of the pipe to with some mandrel bent pipe. I think its goin to haul after I get it back from Dennis.

now what kind of a jackass would think to put a gigantic yz dirtbike motor in a little blaster frame :D just kidding ,heres some sneak peak pics of the portwork -still needs some cleaning though ,like we talked about on the phone note the upper boost port is removed completely and now its blended to one elongated intake window with much longer charge time and more area like the quadracer and trx250R cylinder intakes use ,also this will now have more exhaust area than a stock Quadzilla500r has and with higher port timing .
id use a oil resistant quality silicone on the base and intake and a tacky high temp gasket sealer on the head if it were me .

EDIT: i will have to have someone upload them ,for some odd reason my file uploads are failing must be a monday thing lol i sent them on another forum to paulie B to put up though
