YZ 400 in a blaster

so while i was doing the motor swap I started repainting the plastics. I got the gas tank cover and the front hood done. While I was clear coating the gas tank cover I laid to much clear on this last time and it started clouding up and now I have to wet sand it down a layer or two :(

Anyways heres the hood, I think it turned out really well.

also with this pipe, the kickstart cant be moved all the way in, and it kept coming out and bouncing off my shin, so I added a spring to keep it in against the pipe.

works very well

it was krylon fusion with a spray handle deally.

1. sanded it (220, 320, 400, 600, 800, 1000 grit)
2. 3 coats of plastic primer. sanded 2000 grit in between coats
3. laid 3 coats of fusion spray paint ( didnt sand in between coats)
4. 3 coats of fusion clear coat ( didnt sand in between coats)

and thats how it turned out. I still have to redo the tank cover and then also do the rear fender.

so i got some rear raptor hubs and put some different tires on it. so this is how it looked when I took it out for the weekend. I took to a river bank that had a whole ton of sand and then today i took it to the motocross track and aired it out. Launched it about 3-4 feet in the air.

repp awaaaaay
thanks fro the rep bro, but you what do you mean someone who finally does it? you know paulie did the swap also right? I would not have been able to do this without his knowledge on the motor and all.

So with that last comment I would like to give thanks to

Paulie for answering every question I had about this motor.
Dualstroke for parts and support
Brando, YB, Otis, Freek, and everyone else who gave support and kept me motivated on this project.

Well I decided to mail my jug off to Denny at Flotek. While my bike is down for that I also decided to make my own swingarm completely from scratch.

heres the swingarm with the template i made for the carrier end.

heres the 1/4 plate steel i will use for the part that the carrier will bolt to. You can see I already traced one of the templates on there.

And heres the rest of the steel I will use for the swing arm.

good lord man just can't leave it alone lol. that's gonna be awesome though. can't wait to see how it runs with the port!

haha ofcourse i cant leave it alone. Denny said its goin to be a night and day difference. I hope the swingarm turns out nice too. I woulda left it alone but a worked over 400ex took me on a straight line drag and I cant let that happen lol.

hell yeah it does, I raced a stock 450r and I took him. He came back and was like yo got your paddles on I got this other 450 with paddles blah blah blah. I was like im not nascar bro.

i know lol. im starting on my swingarm i think its goin to turn out real nice. probably goin with a +4 or +5. I think a +6 or more wont be practical where i ride. My brother told me to make a +12 for the sand dunes :o lol
