YZ 400 in a blaster

Nice job. Been enjoying your thread. Pipe's always the worst part. :) Just wondering if you can't get the motor any farther to the rear. Can't tell from your pix if part of the case will hit the arm bolt or what. Just thinkin that the closer you get the front sprocket to the swing arm pivot point the better it is for the chain if ya decide to extend the swing arm and maybe get more travel. Just something to think about. Thought PaulieB's was closer but I guess it looks bout the same in his sig. Anyway, I like your build and keep the pix coming.

yeah bro, im just goin to cut the front part off shoehorn it in the frame then take the bike to an exhaust shop and have them bend some new pipe to fit the frame.

Ok guys so I made some real good progress today I think. Got the motor all mounted up in the frame.

Look guys no straps lol

Here is the front and back mounts. Next time I pull the motor I will grind them down a bit more and then paint them.

And finally a top shot of the motor.

I still have the exhaust and the wiring which will be the bigger hurdles. And then the carb, reinforcing the frame some more, and whatever else I think of.

hey man looks great.. looks like your welding skills have gotten better from last pictures.. and what are the plan for the very back motor mount??

what do you mean very back motor mount? thats it, the pictures you see are all the mounts I'm going to be using. If your refering to the top back mount, then I'm not going to be using it. Thats is why the bottom back motor mount is made out of 1/4in plate steel.

ya the top back one is the one im refering to.. i would put a mount to it just for saftey factor if one of them bottom ones breaks (highly unlikly) but if one did you have extra support.. i would do like a the newer YZs had the bolt on bracket for the head stays, kinda like the front mount you made

I hear what your sayin bro and I was going to do the same as the front, but then I saw that the back mount are offset from one another about an inch or so. That just turned into a big nightmare. I may go ahead and make up another bracket that runs from the top or the back rails. Like I said I kicked it over a few times and its really really solid. The whole back mount and the bottom rail is all 1/4in plating with a grade 5 bolt. Factory frame will probably break first.
