so i have a line on an inexpensive for my area blaster. seller states it runs but is not hitting the power band. has aftermarket pipe and carb, comes with extra seat and set of plastics. asking 8 bills for all this, 7 without extras, can prob get down a bit, waiting on pics. seller is about an hour from me. plan on bringing compression tester. any thoughts?
thanks

For my area not a good price but for yours idk you say it is so i believe you. And no compression means no powerband hit and makes it sluggish. So make sure you test it. Also make sure they jetted for mods.

^^Agreed. Usually a lack of power means the top end is toasted. If it has 120psi + compression after a test, I'd take a chance on it. That price is kinda high for what he's likely got, but if the top end isn't fried you can probably fix it cheaply.

The engine may be jetted wrong, or it could have a broken reed or two. Either of these fixes are cheap and easy as long as you know what you are doing.

If the Blaster ends up having a worn-out top end, I'd offer him $ 500.00 and walk away if he doesn't take it. That way, by the time you have $ 800.00 invested in the bike, you'll have it rebuilt and running the way you want.

You could be lucky and it have good comression even if it has bad compression could only need a set of rings but excpect the worst and hope for the best

i planned on the compression test, thought maybe reeds, just wasnt sure if there wasnt anything else
it is unusual to find anything near me for less than a grand

Its worth checking out; I'd go take a good look at it. Just be cautious. The last time I took the seller's word for the condition of a Blaster, I shelled out $ 900.00 for one with a completely worn-out engine. Needless to say, I learned quick and wouldn't want anybody else to have to deal with what I went through.

Just got my new one for 350.00 and by the time all is said and done ill have 550.00 and have it exactly where i want it a good balanced trail rider.

Granted i had a lot of the parts already i had collected from other builds and whatever.

My little brother just bought one yesterday thats been used for ice racing and it runs for 500.00.Id look real hard at it and pick it apart for that kind of scratch.

Worst case is you drive a little farther for a better deal.I would. The one i got was roughly an hour from me one way.
