Yo...little help here.... '99 blaster problems

my daughters '99 yamaha blaster started skipping in and out of gears while riding:shock: . I am thinking something is wrong with the shifting forks. Tranny pulls fine and still works in all gears, just jumps out of gear all the time now. Pulled the motor out today to break it down. Can anyone offer some advice as to what I am looking for or any other ideas would be greatly appreciated...Thanks :? :???:

Is the transmission full of fresh transmission oil? If not, that could cause the transmission slipping issue.
I can't say for sure what is causing it, but if it come to the point where you need another trans, they're very cheap.

Sounds like either shift forks are worn, shift drum is worn, or the return spring for the shift shaft might be broke. Pop off the shift side cover and check it out. Also wouldnt hurt to change the tranny fluid.
