Back in the day, way before I was even a figment of my parents' imagination, 250cc 2 smokes dominated the industry. They were they stuff of legend, as were the men who rode them.

Suzuki- LT250R- Pretty common.

Honda- TRX250R- Pretty valuable, see one every now and then.

Kawasaki- Tecate 4/T4- Rare, BUY IT IF YOU SEE ONE.

Yamaha- Nothing/Unidentified- Never see them, did they make one of this class?

I find it weird Yamaha made nothing... Any of you seasoned pros know anything about this? I'm lookin into getting a 250, but I need to know my options. Did Yamaha make anything to compete in this particular section of the industry?

yamaha didnt produce a 4 wheeler 250, 1987 they introduced the banshee, 88 the blaster, now to answer the banshee release suzuki had to release the lt500r which only lasted 4 yrs, the lt500r was the fastest production quad of that time.

now one thing that yamaha did have was the IT400, the dt250 enduro the yz250 which were dirt bikes but bad ass dirt bikes.

My best frient form highschool's dad has a fully restored Tecate the only thing that he has aftermarket on it is a set of DG and FMF pipes along with the stock ones I havent even seen it up close but that screams and hauls. It's what I would imageine a blaster with a banshee motor in it with a blurr of green a sight to behold.

Werent the head gaskets in all those years prone to ripping and failing cause to so much compresion?

I read a article in a old ATV magazine about this and they claimed something like yamaha tried the triZ 250cc 2 stroke motor in a ATV frame and the extra weight made it feel slower so they put the 350cc twin in it and it felt alot faster..I:I I also think yamaha did not have a big variety of motors with a balancer weight in it.....
