Ok so I bought this bike with the owner saying the clutch cable was ruined. I replaced the cable with a brand new one and the clutch still doesn't work. Im pretty sure he just cut the old one to hide any other problems. Just curious as to what steps i should take next. Thanks!

Well I know I ran the cable correctly. When I pull the lever it has almost no resistance, but it will spring back in place. I know what pulling the clutch should feel like as I have many bikes. When pulled, it just pulls back the metal lever on the case and nothing happens.

ok you need to take off your kickstarter, clutch side foot peg, and clutch cover. when you get these off you will see in the center of the clutch there is a nut with a threaded rod insde it, that has a phillips head. ... wait. lemme find a link.

Not sure, I havent opened the engine up yet. Just curious dont I need to frail the oil before I take the cover off?

yes sorry i forgot to include that. but i also learned a great little trick last week for lil3mil to keep from drainin the clutch. tip the bike on it's side. use your helmet under the handle bars to keep it flat(my addition to the trick). then you dont' have to drain the oil. it might spill a little but not much

wont all the oil drain into the upper case whol and into the tranny ? with the whole higher up, do you just fip it over on the opposite side to get the oil back out ? the whole is higher up.

Alright thanks. I'll probably end up draining it anyways tho just to be sure. I have no clue what the previous owner has in it so I may as well just change it. Also what should I order? Should I buy a new gasket now. And what oil do you recommend?

here is that whole I mentioned and had question about.

also, I would also asume the crank case breather, you would want to make sure the oil does not try and flow out of it that way too.

on a motor that is put together properly there is no where for the oil to get out besides the breather tube. if you have a tube on the breather tube nipple it will not leak. the tranny is only about 1/3 full when it is full of oil. the stator side part of the crank are is plenty big enough to hold all of the oil.no offence..... but I think you might be a little confused on how the inside of the cases works

No offense taken, thats why I asked and posted pictures.

Two of my basters, had no tube on the breather when I got them. an I have since put a tube back on. But it has no cap on it, its for air to breath in and out.

But my thoughts were, oil could get out, if someone did not have the tube or the tube sealed, when tilting it all the way on its side.

I am a fan of murhys law, if it could happen, it just might happen.

And I asked aboutif the oil would easy flow back into the right side, if the oil went mostly into the tranny ! Due to he whole being higher up, if it would have to be tipped back over, to get the oil back in there, the mount that should be.

My asumption is that whole / slot is there, for the gears to rotate the oil and splash it into the whole, so the tranny side ca recieve lubrication.

Is my implied delilvery method correct and the whole ? In regards to ho the oil gets to te tranny ?

yeah everything is lubericated by the gears carrying the oil upwards. that is why the balancer bearings go first. they are at the very top. the whole tranny sits in the stator side of the cases, so lots of room for the oil to settle into. there are also openings in quite a few places on the clutch side case to allow the oil to move from side to side semi freely

Also there is the drain plug hole in the bottom of the case, the bolt doesn't take all that up. No worries the oil will come right back when you put the quad on all fours!

As to which oil to use, plain old 10w30 grade 4 srtoke engine oil no friction modifiers, Auto trans fluid type F, or an off the shelf transmission oil designed for wet clutches.

650ml no more, no less!
