Yamabond

Ok guys, iv'e searched pretty hard and most yall seem to be using
yamabond 5, Well the manual calls for Yamabond 4, just wonderin
why the prefrence?

apparently yamabond 4 is really hard to find or discontinued or something.

they've changed it at some point but i believe that yamabond 5 is supposed to replace yamabond 4

3bond 1104 is the same stuff. (threebond has replaced 1104 with 1194, either will work)

My local stealership still has yamahbond 5. I bought a tube last week.

Yamabond 4 is grey silicone. Same thing permatex sells for import oil/transmission pans under the name "Ultra Grey Rigid High-Torque RTV Silicone Gasket Maker"

Yamabond 5 is a gasket maker. Yamaha says "Yamabond 5 forms a thin elastic film with excellent peeling property after applying and drying. Works effectively for joint surfaces that vibrate heavily. By coating a mechanical joint with liquid gasket before assembly, leaks can be prevented."

Permatex sells something similar under the name "MotoSeal 1 Ultimate Gasket Maker Grey" except the yamabond 5 is black and the permetex version is grey.

a guy at the stealership told me the same thing about the permatex ultra grey......went to napa, got it cheaper than the yamabond and works great....first time the stealership actually gave good advice lol

1104 was replaced with 1194 because of the lead in it. Probably the same deal with Yamabond.
