i have a 89 blaster with no air box lid and its jetted for no lid and a pipe but i was wondering if i should buy one of the outerwear's lid cover things because i ride on trails that might be dusty and muddy. or will it be fine as long as im not speeding through mud and water?

Should be, its better than no cover at all.

You should be fine. Millions of guys run without a lid.
If you have a K&N filter then you need an Outerwears.
