I have a 2005 Yamaha blaster that i took out today. It was running fine but then i went into a ditch and i stressed it a little to much. It gave out a really bad smell like rubber burning after it got out of the ditch. then about 20 feet forward going up a hill the clutch lever on the left side got really hard, not so hard that i couldn't press it but enough to notice. Then the ATV wouldn't go forward. The ATV starts and does every thing including shift but doesn't move forward. Ive only used three times since i bought it and never changed the transmission oil.:-/:-/:-/:-/:(:(:(:(

not only do you need to change the oil but you need to check the level. You probably smoked your clutch though. really not that big of a deal.

so should i just change the oil, and it will work. Or do i need a whole new transmission

drain the oil you will have to do that anyway see what it looks and smells like. you will know if its smoked its a smell you will never forget lol. u can cross your fingers and hope an oil change will fix it but i have a feeling new clutches are in store for ya. not really a big deal. down load the manual from this site it will show you step by step

well i changed the oil and added new one. And it still doesn't run. A bit more info...
The quad idles in gear without having to hold the clutch
The quad shifts without having to hold the clutch
The quad can be pushed while in gear

how much would it cost, where to buy, and how would i install it/is it hard to install

how much does a clutch cost. Where can i buy one. And do you think any atv dealer can install it, since theres no yamaha dealer here were i live

Check e-bay, Rocky mt., Vito's , google for the clutch. Might run you about $100. Consider new springs also. Need cover gasket and oil specified for wet clutches. If you know which end of a wrench to grab, can download manual and read it, you can do it yourself. Plus someone here will help. A shop will probably charge $100 to put it in.
