Hey guys I have a really nice 2001 blaster it runs great and I trust it anywhere I go. But since the day I got it it has had this weird issue where it wont downshift! If you push up on it then down it will if you do it right but sometimes I have to get off the bike and shake the shifter until it goes into 1st. It will even give me trouble when upshifting somtimes too. I have a day off today and want to adress this issue before the weekend so can someone give me a push in the righr direction. To be honest I have no idea what to look for. Im about to go out and take thw case off and look for obvious problems.

The way I have done a crank seal on a blaster before so I know how to take the clutch and everything off but I dont know about splitting the case... will I have too? How hard is this job? What do I need to do? Pictuees would be a great help. Thanks!

Make sure that oil does not have friction modifiers. If it does it will have a negative effect on how the clutch operates. You need to check that first. If you find it does have friction modifiers than switch to something that doesn't.

You can check out the shifting parts without splitting the case. Might want to pull the right side case cover If the oil specs out okay to have a look see. Sounds like it could be a bent fork not letting the shift star roll.
