I bought my old blaster back off a friend... They have bored it out, but I am not sure how much. It ran with an air filter when I sold it, but now it does not. My jetting seems to be good, as it idles fine and the spark plug is nice and tan. Can someone please help me? I have posted this question on countless sites and asked a million people and no one can seem to help me. Please help me!!!!!!! :o

It is really bad, the air filter is completly clean and unoiled. I can even put a see through rag over the carb and it dies. Yes, I do have the tors on it still... I just checked the reeds today and they are good. Thanks for the quick replies, you guys are awesome!!

turn the air screw on the carb in all the way, and then back it out 1.5 turns.....sounds like its running really really rich at idle and that just puts it over the top and kills it

My air screw is 1.5 turns out, I'm not sure what my pilot is, but my main is a 200. Can I unhook my tors without having to buy anything? And what is the throttle switch? Sorry I'm stupid, I'm used to working on my yz250... Thanks for all your help!!! Keep the answers comin!

Let me get this straight. You're saying your quad will run just fine without anything blocking the carb of air, but when something blocks the carb the engine will die?

Exactly! It is so weird! I've tried everything I know how, I have had this carb off 20 times in the past week.

holy crap what elevation are you at that you're running a 200 main jet?

I am at 1000 feet... Is that bad? What do you suggest I run? I have an fmf pipe and I'm not sure how bored out the engine is. I know its bored out pretty far... Doubt if any porting is done or anything.

Well guys, I have to go to bed or i'll be in trouble by my wife... Thanks for all your answers, please keep posting and I will look first thing in the morning, and I'll let you know how it turns out. Thank you all!!

definately what brando said about main jet, but that wont have anything to do with idle, when you pulled the carb did you completely tear it down and clean it properly???
check the needle clip position while your in there
make sure the choke is off, try turning the idle up till you get the air filter on and running then readjust airscrew to highest idle then adjust idle

please put your hands in the air and back away from the blaster. next put your thinking cap on. WHAT ARE YOU CHANGING WHEN YOU PUT THE AIRFILTER ON?????? Your changing the amount of air going ino the motor. When you change the amount of air going in what else do you have to change??? The amount of fuel. How do you do that?? JETTING. If your jetting seems whacked, what do you need to do? leakdown test.

I don't think it has anything to do with the idle... I can rev it to the moon and put the rag over it and it still dies.

Okay, stupid question, how do you do a leakdown test? :-/ But, how would that have anything to do with it, cuz I thought if you have a leak, wouldn't it make it run leaner? My main jet is 200, and I guess that is REALLY lean?

If you stock carb on a blaster your way lean since stock is a 230 main jet. If I was you I would do the leak down test and jet up and it should solve your problem. When I had an FMF pipe and K&N bolt on filter I was running a 250 main.
