why is atf being recamended?

You need oil with friction modifiers in it for the wet clutch.
Guys use the ATF because they are CHEAP!, they like to replace stuff that's gone to hell on their bikes instead of doing it right the first time, so they can go for a ride any time!
Use Motorcycle transmission oil!

i have yamalube 10w40 in it right now because thats what the dealer recamended i looked for belray gearsaver to day with no luck i just want whats best for my blaster all ready too much money spent in repairs i need it to last!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Think of it this way, your truck or car uses ATF and has clutches and gears. So does your bike. Running motor oil, will or could cause your clutch to slip. Think about what engine oil is to do for your engine and what trans fluid is to do for your trans.
Trans fluid always makes more power on the dyno without the clutch slipping.
