recently changed transmission oil. now i got white smoke. to much oil? or am i about to lose the motor? btw new rebuild on motor.

If its a new top end that has nothing to do with the bottom end, fuel ratio is suppose to be 32:1, which is like 4 ounces of oil to the gallon, I usually run 5 to 6 ounces just for the extra protection.

so can i just remove the transmission and get to the seal from there? or do i have to split the case? is there anything else important that i need to no?

If crank seals are your problem I read on here that someone screwed a screw into seal, grabbed screw with pliers and pulled. They said it came right out without splitting case. They never said anything about reinstalling them though. Good luck

to do the cranks easl you wont need to split the cases but you will need to remove some stuff to get to them then once they are visible they come out rather easily. your problem may have occured form adding too much trans oil when you changed it. too much fluid puts exta pressure on things and the seals are the first to go.

Sounds like the trans seal, its sucking oil/air through there. Not good. To replace it you need to remove the clutch cover, remove the clutch i believe, remove the crank nut and a few other things, and pull the seal out. Not bad to do, its like a 1-2hr job.

i have never done a crank seal but if you have a 2 stroke lets face it... its going to smoke. i even got maxima 2stroke oil that says "smokeless formula", but it smokes

yeah i drained the tranny oil and started over. measuring it to exactly what it calls for. doesnt smoke anymore:P used 10w 30 btw. thanks again fo rthe help.
