when i run port do i need to run race gas

It all depends on how you have the engine built. Doing just porting does not mandate you running race gasoline. High-octane race fuel is required when you have certain types of head work done (milling, squish-band alterations, re-chambering) that increases the engine's compression ratio. Generally, a compression ratio greater than 10.5:1 requires the use of high-octane race gas in that engine.

Wildcard 2 and the other techs can probably explain it in more detail (or correct me), if needed.

i dont use race gas just the prem at the pump,i wanna be there when u run it for the first time to see ur face on the diffrence.lol

the builder doing your portwark can set up your eninge to run whatever fuels you want to run. most guys do a head rechamber to better design the dome for the particualr fuel....thats what makes changeable domes nice.....

the fuel you run should be in the discussion between you and the builder.....usually they ask. its not so much the port job, its more about the head, dome, and squish clearance...

It will also depend on how and where you ride it.
I have heard some builders say you can port it and be fine with the right set-up on pump gas, but I have had other builders tell me that because of the air cooling and the (usually) higher rpm's generated, the air cooled bike can't shed the heat fast enough to be safe on pump fuel.
