I rebuilt my engine and waited forever to order jets like an idiot. Anyway, I finally got my jets, heat cycled it like on kens video. I started with a 300 because of my mods but my question is. how long after my heat cycles can I plug chop? I have rode it around here a little to get in broke in some (maybe an hour) but I don't want to go top it out until its safe. I don't want to pin it before its broke in. So, what should I do now to properly break it in before I plug chop. I know I am not running it too lean with the 300 till I can do the chop.

I would run a tank of gas through it at no more than 3/4 throttle. I would ride at all different rpms making sure not to stay at one rpm for too long. Then after tank is dry, fill it up and do a good pull. May want to start larger on main to be safe.

If you never use any more than 3/4 throttle you will have no worries with the 300 main jet, the main does not regulate the fuel flow until above 3/4 throttle opening.

Post up a list of your mods and someone will chime in with a ballpark figure for the main jet.

My mods are fmf fatty, power core 2, boyesen reeds, timing advance key, k&n type filter, open lid. I think I am plenty rich enough because if I put the lid on, its too rich and don't want to run as good. 300 was the largest I ordered. The person I bought it off of had rebuilt it and it still had the stock 230 main and 2 head bolts were stripped so it didn't last long. I ran about 1/2 tank of gas through and leak tested again and it has no leak at all. It held 7 pound for at least 1/2 hour with no leak off. It runs really strong, but I have not pegged it or even close yet. The shocks are rough on this thing. I measured a set I have on a 450 grizzly and they will fit but would that be an upgrade from the stock ones on a 93? the grizzly is a utility so I don't know. Also, the are set at the lowest point on the thing that spins with the notches, would putting it at a higher setting help? I am at 2014 ft. elevation. temp in the 60's to 70's right now.

this will not determine wether you're main jet is correct at this time, but allows you to compensate for elavation/temp. differences.

The pre-load off the shock spring is in the lowest setting, if you put more tension on the spring it becomes stiffer.
The setting depends on your weight and preferences.
If the shock itself is leak, you have got yourself a pogostick!
Putting more pre-load on the spring would make matters worse then, so check first, if you compress the shocks and let go they must come gently back up.
Not bounce up.:)

I just had everthing off and painted everything. I think the bushings are good. I may just try these grizzly 450 shocks and see what happens.
