I figured this would be an interesting topic since I was talking with some of my friends about it a couple weeks ago.
Non-Blaster: I think early on in HS I was riding double on the back of my buddies Honda Recon. It was cold and wet outside and we were going at a decent speed and he swerved to miss a puddle of water that was on the road while we were coming back from the woods, and the left tires got sucked off the road in some wet mud and we hit the side of an open bridge going probably 25-30mph and then literally grinded on the side of it and the back end hit the concrete edge of the bridge. I was on the back of the ATV and it bucked me off.....slitting both my wrists in the process on the racks, then I went flying a good 20ft or so off the side of the bridge and landed in a shallower rocky area and bashed my head on a rock after flying that far and dropping off a 12ft tall bridge into the water. Just to show how incredible helmets are I bounced up ASAP and and my helmet was gouged out by the rocks, but I had no concussion whatsoever.....must of been used to the football practices. I:I My friend stayed on the Recon before it tipped over and rolled off the side of the bridge into the water below right on top of him. The water was deeper though and he was fine. The recon was COMPLETELY under water, but we had to get the hell out of the water and couldn't just leave it there, so he started it and after getting it out of icy water by some miracle we toted on our way home. Blaster: I've never rolled the Blaster luckily, but I did hit a downed tree wide open in 3rd gear. I was going over a small uphill turn on the trails and went into the powerband and front end went light on worn front holeshots and just completely lost the front end and it went shooting off the side of the trail into a downed tree. Bent my AC aluminium bumper and I went flying over the handlebars into a thorn bush(of course 8-|). Luckily, the thornbush was the better alternative to the stump with a sharp branch sticking up right below my arm. If I would of fell on to that, I wouldn't even be alive right now as it would of impaled me and gone straight through me.
Worst I've seen: 2 idiots in my city neighborhood on a Z400. I went to HS with one of them. They were riding double on a Z400 without helmets and making a bad name for ATVers by topping it out in city limits. 8-| At any rate, I was just sitting outside of my parent's house when they were going wide open, blazed through a 4 way stop sign going a solid 55mph(at least) and a car was in front of them in the 25mph, so they were just going to blow past the car on the left side and go on out towards the country. Well, there was a problem......the car wasn't going straight. The car didn't signal it was turning left into a trailer park entrance and just as they were going left to blow by the Grand Am, the Grand Am turned left into the entrance and BAM. You won't ever see a harder crash than that one. The car was in worse shape than the Z400 was. The ENTIRE back of the car was just destroyed and completely bent in and totalled. The guy driving the Z400, Chico(don't know him), went flying over the handlebars, hit the back windshield and went flying about another 25ft before rolling on the pavement. The kid I knew(or knew who he was at least) from HS that was on the back, just straight up launched and flew a solid 50ft before hitting the pavement and rolling. Neither had helmets and there was blood EVERYWHERE. I had to run in and call 911 after I saw it happen. Needless to say, I showed no mercy for them and didn't really care as it was their own dumbassery. EMS showed up just as I was walking over to them(damn their fast) down the street and Matt was unrecognizable.....road rash all across his face and blood everywhere. I figured he was probably going to be dead, so I went over to Chico or whatever his name was and he didn't look as bad but was still a bloodied mess and was unresponsive and incoherently blabbering from the head trauma. EMS hauled them away and the they had to winch the car up since the car was so badly damaged from the impact that it wouldn't roll. Matt ended up surviving, but I don't know the extent of the injuries he ended up having to face...I'm sure they were extensive just based on what I saw when I went up to him...I'm sure multiple fractured vertebrae, compound fracture of the arm and wrists, and so on. Chico, actually ended up dying later the next day from the head trauma from intercranial pressure from the inflammation simply being too much. They both lost a TON of blood and that stuff stayed on the road for over a year.
