So I'm starting another engine build. I'm going to build one for my bike which has a engine already, and put the exsisting one in a roller I have for my wife. I've been slowly gathering parts here and there. I have pretty much everything I need. The question is:

Should I build up a 240, or go with a KOR ported/polished cylinder and rechambered head? I'm going to keep stock stroke, and want to run pump gas. Thoughts?
 
i chose the KOR ported stock cylinder, it will eat an unported 240 cylinder, does exactly what i need it to do in the trails i ride, and gives you many more over bores for much longer life, versus only 3 bores of a 240 cylinder.
 
All depends where and how you ride.

The stock carb is great for low/mid, but the
LRD is suited to the highs, therefore a larger carb would suit it better!

Again the terrain will determine the gearing!

either carb will work, and stock gearing is 13/40, that or 14/40 will work too
 
The oko carb can be a very good carb depending on if its a legit oko, I run an original oko 30mm carb that I bought from CPW, in my opinion its the perfect woods carb, with that being said, I wont ever use one of the newer oko carbs cause now you have no idea were it came from an if its knockoff or legit, gearing is all an opinion thing aswell, if you want max tq stay with the 13 front, you want more top speed run a 14

How can you tell if it's legit?

There was a thread floating around on here about how to tell the difference between them, now days I buy new keihin pwk 28s an have them bored to 30mm, but I do agree with everyone else the ported stock cylinder will out perform the 240, my stock bore stock stroke flotek engine out performs 240 by far, an also out performs strokers, its all in who does the work an the porting, there is only 2 people that can build fast blasters in my opinion, FLOTEK an KOR,

Well, if you get a top end pipe, huge carb, and huge airbox, you're going to have a top end screamer with sh*t bottom end power. But, if you run the 30 with the top end pipe and then get some bottom end upgrades along with the porting and head, you'll have a good all around machine. I had a kor ported cylinder and head with vforce 4s and other supporting mods along with my dynoport, and it had steady power all the way up and still screamed up top because of the pipe design, when I lost my ported top end, it turned back into a top end machine because of the lack of the supporting bottom end power of the porting.

Mine is a top end screamer. It does ok down low with the stock carb and +4 timing. I also have the CFM airbox. Vf4's are coming with build and a aftermarket clutch basket.
 
If you build the KOR motor, you will be running almost the same setup as me. I'm still running a stock carb with my F7 pipe, and with the Head mod and porting, it starts pulling down low and never feels like it wants to stop.

Just my honest opinion, but I'm very pleased with a ported stock stroke motor. The difference in it is unreal.

That's what I want to hear. I'm still trying to figure out how to hey my LRD pipe to stop leaking at the flange. Pain in the butt.
