something gives.. as we've ruled out connecting issues ( I think we have, always a small chance the new coils and old CDI dont like each other) there are 3 possible problem areas:
-CDI box is fried
-Coil is fried
-Stator coil/coils are fried
Go buy a multimeter for 15$ and Ill send u the data on how to diagnose the stator coils and spark coil.
If the CDI is fried, get one from an 03+ model.. will make ur life easier.. Multimeter is a worthwhile investment..
to diagnose the Stator coils:
set meter to (Ω × 1)
connect + wire to White/red
connect - wire to black
resistance should measure 16 to 24 ohms
setting to (Ω × 100)
connect + to Green/White
connect - to Black/Red
resistance should measure 192 to 288 ohms
to diagnose the spark coil
setting to (Ω × 1)
Connect + to the orange wire on the spark coil
Connect - to the spark coil bracket
resistance should measure 0.18 to 0.28 ohms
Setting to (Ω × 1k)
Connect + to the orange wire on the spark coil
Connect - wire to the spark plug wire
resistance should measure 6.32 to 9.48 kΩ
This should be done at about 68 Fahrenheit but somewhere around there is ok..
Any readings way out; thats where the problem is.
all ok? try and find an old stator, and connect it to the old CDI or a new CDI and connect it to the new coils..
Hope I helped u understand..
