well on my 02 yamaha warrior , the clutch doesnt seem to work right. like i can ride it and turn it off then start back up and when i hold it in and press down for 1st and slowly let out like usual it doesnt seem to go like theres no gears put i turn it off start it back up and it works. what could cause this? do i need new oils? new clutch ? new cable?:-/

No clue I had a warrior that would be fine in neutral but once you were going finding neutral was difficult partially because the light would only show it when I was at a stop shut off the motor switch it back on not start it then finding it was easy and would do this everyother time I rode it.and worked perfectly fine on warm up and during the ride with no hang up's so I left it alone(shrug) My instincts are to change the plates and the oil while your at it.That should help what jlsparky said

Could it be ridges in the basket faces allowing plates to grab and not engage at times.

Sticky cable gives the same symptoms but you can see if that is what is happening by looking to see if the lever is working properly.

well i started fooling around with the clutch cable tightness and when i tightened it more, it work . i think i need a new cable

a trick to the warrior clutch is to add an extra steel plate somewhere in the clutch pack. this gives it extended life due to the design of the basket. it's just a good trick of the trade if you do have to put a new clutch in it.

but for now i'm sure you have it pretty much figured out. get the new cable and go from there.
