New to atv's. Looking for a blaster or similar atv that is cheap and reliable . I'd like to only spend around $1k maybe a bit more.

what are the pros and cons of the blaster

pros, fun, easy to work on, pretty good power, can be modded easily, light and flickable

cons, stock suspension sucks, 02 and older brakes suck, has problems with the Throttle Over Ride System which doesnt do its job at all.

Realistically it's your best bet at getting a quad that doesn't need much if any work for just over 1000 bucks. However, just realize that it is a 2stroke and you have to pay more attention to the carb and the jetting than you would a 4 stroke. Much more potential for increasing the power of a blaster too.

thanks guys. keep them coming. i know you guys are probably bias to the blaster but any other atv's i should consider?

you may be able to get an lt250r in that price range, or an lt230. there aren't that many quads out there for that much money that you can hop on and ride

check craigslist. they usually got cheap quads on there. there is a 98 blaster near me that supposodly runs great with toomey pipe and silencer. where you from?

whats up man.. i live in the quad cities. thats like 45 minutes from me.
you guys have good riding spots up there?.. oh and as far as craigslist goes ud have to be willing to drive a couple hours to find a good deal. ive been looking for one to

By import he means chinese.....they're worthless.

Around here, for 1000 bucks you'd be real lucky to get anything halfway decent other than a blaster. You can't touch a running 250r for 1000 around here!!

I think that a 300ex is a good beginner quad, or a 400ex, but you can't get a halfway decent one around here for cheap. Older quads are sometimes ok but you're going to have to be mechanically savvy or learn to be.
