What are these parts?

While tearing down my bike for my winter project I came across two parts that I am unsure of their purpose. First being some wire with a odd sensor on the end. It came off the wire harness somewhere and Im not sure where it came from or where it goes. The second part is the weird box that sits on top of the carb. The throttle cable runs though it to the needle. What does this box do? Why is there two wires going into it? Is it better to remove this and get a basic carb top?

the "throttle override system" TORS has been a constant source of headaches for all blaster and shee riders, it is uneeded

check ebay or vitos site for "tors removal" kits

The first is the TORS switch that goes inside thumb throttle housing, delete, cut wires and install gromet, plug hole with silicon. Get complete tors removal kit with drill, tap , and idle screw. Be very careful and take your time tapping carb. Had the blasturd give me fits once in light rain, the switch in throttle was getting wet enough that the "brain" thought the throttle was stuck and would only let it idle. I've been riding since dirt was still new and with proper maintenance have never had a throttle stick.

Larry beat me to it^^^^That first one is the switch assembly from the thumb throttle. Do your self a favor and pitch it!

Thats weird... I found the cable just laying under the hood. What kinds of problems does the TORS give you guys. The kit is almost $50. Do I really need to delete it. Can I just unplug the wires to the unit?

If you don't have parking brake you can just un-plug "brain", newer ones same except you also splice two wires together. Might have to search for that info, as I'm not sure as to colors of wires. Other than the problem mentioned, I also had the cable break inside the box. Save the 50 and put it towards a 28 or 30mm carb. When it malfunctions you will only be able to idle, and guarenteed you will be at the furthest point from your truck.

So if I just unplug the two wires going into the top carb, remove sensor under the hood/throttle housing, and remove the TORS control box under the hood.... Ill be fine? Will I sacrifce any power loss? Sounds like a way better plan then throwing $50 at a delete kit...

Yes if you are an 88-02 blaster, your good to go!

The delete kit get's rid of that big ole silver box on top of the carb and replaces it with a nice cap and and idle screw as that box has the idle adjustment!

Yeah I have a 89. So basically all the delete kit would do for me would be looks. I wont loose any ponys or anything right? Also I can remove the TORS control box under the hood and disconect it from the cdi without the cdi crying about it?
