So on my CR when I put it up the other night I noticed water was oozing out the top of the cylinder head it's oozing out the side of it where the head connects with the actual walls of the cylinder. It's water-cooled my first thought was the water pump went bad but what are your thoughts?

It doesnt just go bad, one of your bolts arent torqued right or something and that has caused it to got bad, the CRs have a one piece metal gasket i believe. Or your head is warped, take off your head and resuface it on a piece of glass, you had might as well do the same to the cylinder too a little

Just check you head bolts and see if one is lose. If so they put a gasket on it and ride. Unless you have rode the crap out of this thing, low on coolant, and it was 100 degrees outside I really doubt that your head is warped. Just sounds like the head came loose. Has the top end been gone through lately? Remember to diagnose the problem first, don't just through parts at it.

No but the guy said he rebuilt the top end before i got it which was about 2 months ago, but i doubt he rebuilt it.

? Resurfacing the head is free, and only makes it flatter so that is better, i see no reason not to resurface the head when you take it apart anyway, as it will only cut down on variables

who does stuff for free these days....and i wouldnt be resurfacing, i would be milling the heads for more comp

Resurfacing your head is kind of a DIY thing. You clamp a piece of flat glass to a work bench, spread some heavy polishing compound on the glass, grab the head on opposite corners, and make figure eights with it. This method takes a while but it works and costs little to nothing.

Seriously? you do it yourself so it is free. If you re-surface your head enough then i guess that would be considered milling it i guess. But there is no need to do that on a 80 that is already peaky as hell

that sounds good but i usally use a big piece of sandpaper to do it, i would be afraid of the compound just moving to the outside of the figure eight and make it un even, do you know what i mean?
