I went to swap topends and noticed this on my big bore cylinder, I would like to know if I should worry about the broken off piece.....seemed to work fine running on the blasty it was on, didnt notice it until I pulled it and put it on my 04 blasty
Can't spoil a rotten egg . If it was running like that before, grind the broken edge down smooth to avoid stress risers, champher it, de-burr with fine paper, probably wouldn't be the best for wear X(.
How long did you run it like that? Run OK? Extra noise? How's the piston look in that area? Look into re-sleeve this winter. I:I
It's all relative, if you're super parinoid, anal, picky, might not be for you. Maybe just short shift it, not rev it out. I:I
The rings don't go that low but the intake skirt of the piston does. Where do you measure cylinder to piston clearance at? Oh yeah... at the bottom of the skirts.
I'd probably chamfer that edge and rock on but that's just me. Thankfully I wasn't faced with that sort of dilemma with my BBK.
