I just picked up a 2003 Yamaha Blaster for a good price. The previous owner clearly used this quad, the plastics are beat up, the front bumper is a bit rough, the headlight is broken. However, it was just rebuilt and re jetted and runs great, aside from not idling properly. As far as I can tell, nothing is wrong with the carb settings. The engine was bored ".060 over and has a 360 jet in it. The idle air screw doesn't seem to make any difference. The quad always starts in 1 kick, has no bog downs or problems when actually driving around. It just doesn't idle.
I have found that the only way to make the quad idle is to press down on the foot brake. If it is pressed, it idles great, if not, it just cuts off and dies. The previous owner bypassed the key ignition and claims to have never touched anything else in the electrical system. The oiling system was removed also, so I've been running 1:32 premix.
I am new to quads, especially 2 strokes, so any information would be great.
