is the tri z 250 the same as the yz250...i think it is and i might be swapping in the future

im not sure about the bottom end but it is possible to put the yz250 cylinder on the triz lower

no they are different, they have the same bore and stroke and cases but pistons are different elect. is different, compression they run nothing like a YZ

a YZ is a race bike with race porting,comp. piston reeds carb ignition timing a Tri-Z was a 3 wheeler meant for general ATV use, Yamaha puts performance parts in engines that are meant for closed course competition like a YZ I would guess a 10 HP differance between the 2, but a YZ engine will bolt right up, cranks are interchangable, pistons can swap but a YZ has a cut-away (race) a Tri-z has a windowed piston, like a blaster for general use.

you can bolt a 83-87 YZ engine into a tri-z chassis.. just have to use the tri-z head.. i had a yz engine in my tri-z for a while.. one thing no mentioned was the YZ is powervavled and the tri-z is not. i've got a powervavled triple exhaust ported yz engien for sale that came out of my tri-z. and i laso have a tri-z for sale.. if your lokign for a complete trike or just and eninge for a blaster swap
