i have a 1998 yamaha blaster that now only has 1st and i think 3rd or fourth gear.. when i shift cou can just keep shifting and makes a loud noise comparedto usual. is my clutch out or do i need a whole new bottom end?:-/

sounds like you may have bent a shift fork. its repairable, you don't need to replace the whole bottom end, but it does take some know-how to split the cases

don't run it incase a shift fork or something broke in there. you don't want it getting into the tranny gears and chewing things up. had any work done on it recently? did you try to force it in gear at some point before this happened?

no havent had to force it into gear or anything like that.. however i did talk to a mechanic from around here today and he said that yes it could be that the shift fork is bent broke or possibly jamme din some way.. im taking it to a shop later to find out forsure. when i find out what it is forsure ill post it on here. but thanks for the ideas!!!

ok. hope everything goes well. if you decide to start working on it yourself there are plenty of guys to give you advice. buying the tools you need will def save you money in the future. be careful with mechanics. sometimes they just act like they know what they are talking about. so report back with whatever he says to make sure he is on the right track and not just screwin you over.

same thing happened to me once. my kickspring broke and got jammed in the shift star and i forced it and snapped my fork. might just be something dumb..

how much did it cost for you to fix this.. is this including labor for someone doing it or did you do it yourself. was it very hard to do it?
